Welcome to Essex Child and Family Wellbeing Service and West Essex

About Essex Child and Family Wellbeing Service

The Essex Child and Family Wellbeing service, which is provided by us in partnership with Barnardo’s and commissioned by Essex County Council, ensures that families have free and easy access to local health services in the community; whether in a local clinic, play area or in a family’s home. We provide a vast range of support and guidance from breastfeeding training, school nurses to parental support, easing the burden for new parents and the complex needs of their child. The focus of all our services in the area is to ensure that everyone in Essex has the best possible start to life or their parental life through accessible community services. We also provide specialist paediatric children’s services in the West Essex area commissioned by West Essex Clinical Commissioning Group.

About West Essex

Since 2017, our children’s community health services in West Essex focus on making sure that everyone in Essex has the best possible start in life through community services that are accessible, high quality and meet the identified needs of children, young people and families.

These services are also offered to young people aged up to 25 years who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), ensuring a smooth transition to adult services.

All services and activities are outcome focussed and many are designed to meet one or more of the outcome measures commissioned by WECCG.

North East Essex commissioned services

The Neurodevelopment Pathway Service started on 1 September 2021. This is a new service for children, young people up to the age of 25 and their families in North-East Essex who are living with a neurodevelopment disorder and commissioned by North East Essex Clinical Commissioning Group.

  • Neurodevelopment Pathway Coordination

Affinity Programme

The service is a targeted early intervention project working in all of Essex, including the unitary authorities of Southend and Thurrock for children who are at risk of exclusion from education due to their behaviour. The programme provides support to children and young people from age five up to their 16th birthday along with providing support to the family and the school.
