Starting out
The first thing we’d advise for someone looking into the industry is to look at all our current job vacancies. This will give you a brief but detailed overview of the requirements of your role as well as what a day might look like. However, going into the health and care industry serves up different things all the time, the ability to be adaptable is an appealing characteristic.
With this career path set in mind, we want you to stand out from the rest. If you have qualifications or not, ‘on the ground’ experience would be very beneficial. Whether that be a couple of hours a week to volunteering in a hospital or even caring for a relative or friend, experience shows you’re interested, and you gain a basic understanding of the type of role you may want to go into. There are so many opportunities and ways to gain experience, it’s just about getting involved where you can!

Apprenticeships
Whether you’re still at home looking to launch your working career to having to provide for a family, our apprenticeships have no barriers.
As you may know, an apprenticeship combines the practical, day-to-day demands of the job but you also earn a qualification at the end of the program.
Depending on the level you are taking, it will give you the equivalent of an A-Level, a foundation degree, all the way to a master’s degree. Once getting your qualification, this could lead to a full-time role in the industry. This is perfect for someone who doesn’t learn as well in a classroom setting and prefers a hands-on kind of role – Perfect for a health and care position!
Apprenticeships aren’t just for young people starting out in their working lives, but also for people considering a career change and gain experience in a new role.
We are delighted to be able to offer the national living wage for the role you’re doing, meaning you don’t have to worry about the financial constraints of the usual apprentice pay rates.
Student placement
We openly welcome students to carry out their placement work for their degree or qualification.

Newly Qualified
As a newly qualified healthcare professional, we aim to provide all our colleagues with the best place to work so they can provide the best care for our service users.
While gaining valuable experience doing your day-to-day role, we also offer an in-house training programme to help get your career to the next level. You’ll have access to over 100 training courses in a variety of areas, giving you additional expertise helping you develop for your next role.
Preceptorships
Nurturing and inspiring the next generation of health and care professionals is something we see as paramount to the industry. We are always looking for ways to be active in the community and feel it is our duty to acclimatise our health and care professionals of the future to the day-to-day of this hugely rewarding career path.
When colleagues join us as newly qualified nurses or Allied Health Professional, we have the established preceptorship programme in place to ensure an easy transition as clinicians convert their knowledge into everyday practice.
The preceptorship programmes also provide support for colleagues that are:
Returning to practice after a lengthy period away, for example from a career break (including being re-admitted to their professional register).
Joining the UK workforce as an internationally educated or recruited worker.
Experiencing a change to their work role or sector.
Returning to a practice after a break, for example from maternity or carers leave.
Guiding you every step of the way
You will be integrated to an experienced, supportive team and when beginning your preceptorship you will be allocated a dedicated ‘Preceptor’ who will meet with you on a regular basis and support you in the completion of your preceptorship.
This additional support when you join will build on the foundations of what you know to this point and ensure you become a skilled and professional practitioner following the highest clinical standards.
